Our Program

Creating Kind Humans

Our classrooms are safe, respectful, and inclusive environments for children, from birth through age twelve, where they can learn and grow at their own pace. What sets us apart from other centers is our low ratios, developmentally appropriate activities, and continuity of care for your child through the use of care groups. We value diversity and welcome families and people from all walks of life.  Our curriculum is anti bias and non religious, with the hope of inspiring acceptance across all ages, abilities, and beliefs.

Young children who attend UUMCDC are provided the support and guidance they need for their healthy development. All activities are carefully designed to adequately nurture the emotional, intellectual, and physical growth of our kids. Through hands-on learning opportunities, teacher modeling, and play based curriculum, our goal is for children to develop into caring, compassionate, and kind individuals.

Our Philosophy

Learning Through Play

Early childhood is a time of rapid growth and development; when children must be free to discover, explore, experience, and gain mastery of skills and knowledge in a safe, predictable, and supportive environment. Our program allows children to mature at their own rate relative to their unique abilities and interests, by participating in a variety of developmentally appropriate, indoor and outdoor, active and quiet, teacher facilitated, and child-initiated activities. We believe that all children have the ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts. Staff facilitate, support, and encourage these opportunities for children to develop inner discipline and self control.

UUMCDC Mission

Respectful Relationships

As a mission of University Church, the purpose of our child care center is to provide a warm, loving environment in a secular setting and develop the social, emotional, and intellectual growth of the individual child.  Through an approach steeped in respecting the whole child, positive guidance, and modeling appropriate interactions, our goal is to inspire children to always strive to be kind and caring in their individuality.
